Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it important that Bright Heights is privately owned?
Becky Dollins is an educator who opened a child care center. She is not a business person who looked for a business opportunity and opened a child care center. For her this is a passion, not a job. Becky has a Master’s Degree in Education from The College of William and Mary. She is the Owner and is present at the center regularly. Becky is knowledgeable about child development and committed to providing the highest quality program for the children. It is important to her to build relationships with the families at Bright Heights. In addition, she works hard to make Bright Heights a place where the staff feels valued.
What sets Bright Heights apart from other centers?
Bright Heights places great value on its staff and invests in them. Becky looks for teachers who are as passionate about the early childhood field as she is. Combining passionate teachers with the Edge Teacher Training Program and the EPIC curriculum makes for an excellent program.
What is the goal for the children at Bright Heights?
We know that the children will learn skills at Bright Heights and will grow. Our ultimate goal is for them to have fun while learning and want to come back each and every day for more. This is what we believe establishes a strong foundation for lifelong learners.
Where exactly is Bright Heights located?
Bright Heights is located inside the Kiln Creek neighborhood of Newport News on the Virginia Peninsula. It is located in the Fairway Plaza business center which is next door to Kiln Creek Elementary School. Centrally located on the Peninsula, Kiln Creek is just a few minutes drive from York County, Denbigh, Ft. Eustis, Hidenwood, Oyster Point, Tabb and Poquoson.
Do most of the children who attend Bright Heights live in the Kiln Creek community?
No. Although there are plenty of Kiln Creek residents who are families at Bright Heights, we serve families from all over the Virginia Peninsula.
